The short version. BelleIndex is a platform that helps customers and independent beauty businesses find each other. We are not a salon, we do not employ or supervise anyone who provides a service, and we are not part of the agreement between a customer and a business. The business is responsible for the service it provides; each customer and business is responsible for their own choices and conduct. Please read sections 12 to 15 carefully: they limit our liability and say how disputes are resolved, including by individual arbitration instead of in court or in a class action.
These terms are an agreement between you and Belle Index, which runs BelleIndex ("we", "us"), a business based in California. You can reach us at support@belleindex.com or through our support page. By creating an account, signing in with Apple or Google, posting a request or an open time, sending a quote, booking, or otherwise using the website or the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use BelleIndex.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to use BelleIndex.
BelleIndex is an online venue. Customers post what they need and the price they want to pay; businesses post open times and send quotes; the two sides can message, agree and book. That is all we do.
You are responsible for deciding whether to deal with another user, and for taking reasonable care when you do.
There are two kinds of account: Customer and Business. Give accurate information, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly if you think your account has been used without your permission. You are responsible for everything done under your account. One person or business, one account, unless we agree otherwise.
These rules protect everyone and are enforced automatically.
If you are in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number first. Report anything unsafe to us through the app or support.
If you use a Business account, you confirm and agree that:
Unless we say otherwise at the time of booking, the customer pays the business directly. Prices, deposits, refunds, no-show fees and cancellations are between the customer and the business. We do not collect, hold or guarantee payment for services, and we are not responsible for refunds or chargebacks between users.
Businesses pay to quote, and again when the quote is accepted. Sending a quote uses the credits shown on the Pricing page. When a customer accepts that quote, 1 further credit is taken for the booking, whatever the price of the service — it is a fee for the introduction, never a share of the work. It is returned in full if the customer cancels or does not turn up, and kept if the business cancels. A business whose balance will not cover it still receives the booking: the balance may go below zero, and only new quotes pause until it is topped up. Open times are separate and are paid for when they are posted.
Posting a request costs $0. Businesses use credits to send quotes, to post open times and for the ★ Featured boost on a spot; customers use a credit only for the optional ⚡ Rush boost on their own request. Every new customer account receives 3 credits once, at no charge, and every business account 30; more can be bought on the website, and customers have a smaller pack of their own. Credits are a license to use platform features, not money: they have no cash value and cannot be transferred or sold. Credits do not expire. The prices shown on our Pricing page are today's prices: we may change what any feature costs, including features that cost nothing today, but we will publish the change on the site and email account holders before it takes effect, and anything you have already posted, quoted or booked is honoured at the price that applied when you did it. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, Helcim; we do not see or store your card number.
Credits you bought and have not used are refunded to the card you paid with, at the price you paid per credit, when you cancel on the Credits page or delete your account. Where an account holds both, credits that were given count as used first, and refunds are worked out from your most recent purchase backwards. Refunds usually reach your card within 3–5 business days. Used credits, and credits that were given rather than bought (including the welcome credits), are not refundable. Credits that were given end when an account is closed, and an account banned for breaking these terms loses its credits.
Answer for me. A business may switch on automatic quoting. While it is on, we send that business's quote on needs its rotation gives it, at the price the customer asked for, and each one uses a credit exactly as a quote sent by hand does. It never books an appointment and never names a price of its own: the customer still chooses. The business sets how many a day and the credit balance beneath which it stops, is told about every quote sent, and can switch it off at any time.
Credits come back automatically when a post fails to save, and the credits businesses spent on quotes are returned if the customer cancels the request while the quotes are still sealed, if we remove the request for safety reasons, or if the customer closes their account before choosing.
Both sides rate each other after an appointment. A business can mark an appointment as missed or unpaid; a customer can dispute a mark from their rating page, and a disputed mark stops counting while we look at it. Marks stop counting after 18 months, and one business can add at most two marks to a customer's rating. Reviews must reflect a genuine experience; we may remove reviews or marks that are fabricated, incentivised, abusive or made in bad faith. We do not verify every rating or review and are not responsible for what users say about each other.
You keep ownership of the photos, reviews and text you upload. By posting them you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, translate and resize them to operate and promote BelleIndex, including on partner salon websites through our widget. The license lasts while your content is on the platform, apart from copies in routine backups and reviews that remain part of a business's public history. Do not upload content you do not have the rights to, or content that is unlawful, misleading or infringes anyone's rights. We may remove any content and act on any account at our discretion to keep the platform safe.
Some placements are paid and labelled Ad; that is not an endorsement, and we do not check the goods or services an advertiser sells.
If you buy an ad from us. Businesses can buy a local ad that is shown to people near their address; brands and suppliers can buy a wider package. The prices and how long each one runs are shown on the advertising pages before you pay, and you can pay by card or with credits. What you buy is a run of a set length — not a number of clicks, customers or sales, and we do not promise any result.
Businesses may be offered an optional paid membership. It is not needed to use BelleIndex, and it is only available when we have switched it on.
We work to keep BelleIndex running but do not promise it will always be available, error-free or secure, and we may change, suspend or withdraw features at any time.
BelleIndex is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We make no promise about any user, service, result, listing, price, rating or review, or that you will find a customer, a business or a booking.
Beauty services carry real risks, including allergic reactions, infections, burns, cuts, hair or skin damage and results you do not like. Those services are provided by independent businesses, not by us. To the fullest extent the law allows:
Some places do not allow certain of these limits; where that is so, they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for our own fraud or gross negligence.
Disputes about a service, a price, a payment, a no-show or conduct are between the customer and the business. We may, but do not have to, help — for example by reviewing messages or a disputed mark — and any decision we make about content or accounts does not make us responsible for the underlying dispute.
Release. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release BelleIndex and its owners, officers, employees and agents from claims, demands and damages of every kind, known and unknown, arising out of or connected with disputes between you and another user or a service arranged through BelleIndex. If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code section 1542, which says: "A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party." Residents of other places waive any similar law.
Indemnity. You agree to defend and indemnify BelleIndex and its owners, officers, employees and agents against claims, losses, liabilities and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of BelleIndex, your content, your breach of these terms or the law, or — for a business — the services you provide.
Talk to us first. Before starting any formal claim, contact support and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally.
Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, you and we agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or BelleIndex will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either side may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either side may ask a court to stop infringement of intellectual property.
No class actions. Claims may be brought only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not combine claims of different people.
Opting out. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these terms by telling us through support that you opt out. If you do, or if this section is found unenforceable, disputes will be heard only in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
You can close your account at any time. We may warn, limit, suspend or close any account, remove any content, or refuse service at our discretion, including where we believe someone has broken these terms, put another user at risk, or exposed us to liability. Sections 7 to 10 and 12 to 18 continue to apply after an account is closed.
We may update these terms. When a change is material we will ask you to accept the new version when you next use BelleIndex. Continuing to use BelleIndex after a change takes effect means you accept it. Changes do not apply to a dispute we already knew about before the change.
We may transfer these terms to another company, for example if BelleIndex is sold or merges, and your account and data move with it; you may not transfer your account without our permission. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about BelleIndex.
