This policy explains what Belle Index collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Account details. Your name, email address, phone number if you give one, preferred language, and your password in hashed form. We never store your password as readable text.
Licence details, for professionals. Licence type, number, issuing state and the photo or PDF you upload, so we can verify you are qualified to offer the services you list.
Service requests. What you asked for, the location you entered, dates, budget, any notes, and any inspiration photos you attach.
Bookings and reviews. Bookings you make and reviews you write.
Your reliability record. Appointments you kept, missed, or cancelled inside 24 hours, and any dispute you file about a mark on your record. There is a section on this below.
If you use the app. A notification token for your device, so we can send you alerts, and your device's language so we can show the app in it. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
If you sign in with Apple or Google. Your name and an email address, passed to us by them. If you use Apple's Hide My Email we receive a relay address rather than your real one, and that is all we need.
Payment details, for professionals on a paid plan. Your plan, its status and its renewal date. Card payments are handled by our payment processor — we do not see or store your card number.
Technical data. A session cookie that keeps you signed in and remembers your language, plus standard server logs.
To run your account, show your request to relevant professionals, let you and a professional arrange a booking, verify licences, respond to support enquiries, and keep the platform secure.
When you post a service request, the details you enter are shown to professionals who can offer that service so they can respond. Your contact details are not published on the public site. Reviews you write appear publicly alongside your display name.
Licence documents are used for verification and are not shown publicly.
Partner websites. Subscribing salons can display open requests in their service area on their own website using our widget. Where that happens, the request details you entered — service, area, date, budget and notes — are shown on that salon's site as well as on Belle Index. Your email address and phone number are not included.
Because a missed appointment costs a professional their time, Belle Index keeps a record of whether you keep your bookings, and shows it to businesses you book with. We think you should know exactly how it works.
A business you booked with can mark an appointment as missed. Cancelling within 24 hours of the start time counts as a late cancellation, worth half a missed appointment; cancelling earlier never counts. Appointments you keep count in your favour. Marks stop counting after 18 months, and any one business can add at most two marks to your record.
Businesses you book with can see the record. It is not public. You can see it yourself on your record page, and you may choose to share it with someone through a link — if you do, anyone holding that link can view it until you stop sharing.
If you think a mark is wrong, you can dispute it from your record page. The mark stops counting while we look into it. We remove marks we find to be inaccurate or made in bad faith. You can also ask us to explain any mark on your record.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it with the professional you are transacting with, with the service providers listed below who operate parts of the platform on our behalf, and where the law requires it.
If the business changes hands. If Belle Index is sold, merges with another business, or its assets are acquired, your information transfers to the new owner as part of it, and this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise. We will say so on the site if that happens.
We use a small number of outside services to run the platform. They act on our instructions and only for these purposes:
Our hosting provider, which stores the site, the database and uploaded files. Google, for translating pages and messages into your language — the text being translated is sent to Google and the result is stored on our servers so we do not have to send it again — and for turning an address you type into a location. Our payment processor, for professionals' plan payments. Apple, to deliver notifications to the app on your device.
Paid placements on Belle Index are labelled Ad. We count how often an ad is shown and clicked. Clicking an ad takes you to the advertiser's own site, where their privacy policy applies, not ours.
We keep your account details while your account is open. Requests, bookings and reviews are kept as part of your history while you are with us.
Marks on your reliability record stop counting after 18 months, so an old missed appointment stops affecting how businesses see you.
If you ask us to close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal details. Some things stay: records of a booking or a dispute while it could still be raised, anything the law requires us to hold on to, and copies inside routine backups until those age out. Reviews you wrote may remain published as part of the history of the business they describe.
You can see and edit your account details when signed in, ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct something, or ask us to delete your account. You can dispute any mark on your reliability record, and ask us to explain how it got there. You can turn off notifications in your device settings, and stop sharing your record link at any time. Contact support and we will help.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights — to object to how we use your information, or to have a decision that affects you looked at by a person. Ask us and we will honour them.
Belle Index uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and a preference cookie for your chosen language. Blocking them in your browser will stop sign-in from working. The app keeps the same sign-in session on your device.
Belle Index is not intended for people under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
If this policy changes materially we will say so on the site.
